1978 - Betsy Buford

Betsy Buford has lived in Oakwood since 1978. She currently lives with her husband Donald at 321 East Lane Street.

“When I first moved in, my friend Harvey (Bumgardner) kept saying, ‘Good luck on the frontier.’ I said, “Harvey, why are you telling me ‘Good luck on the frontier?’ instead of saying ‘good luck in Historic Oakwood?’ He stood on my front porch and said, ‘Cause darling, there’s a shooting or a knifing on that corner every Saturday night and that’s why we call it a frontier.'”
