Do you love history, architecture and festive decorations? Then you won’t want to miss the Historic Oakwood Candlelight Tour®, one of Raleigh’s oldest and most beloved Christmas traditions.
Every year, the Society for the Preservation of Historic Oakwood (SPHO) invites you to step inside some of the most beautiful and historic homes in the Oakwood neighborhood, a charming community of Victorian, Queen Anne and Craftsman style houses dating from the mid-1800s to the early 1900s.
You’ll be amazed by the variety and elegance of these homes, each with its own story and personality. You’ll also enjoy the warm hospitality of the homeowners and docents, who will share their knowledge and passion for preserving this unique heritage.
The tour is self-guided with docents inside each property, so you can explore at your own pace and in any order. You’ll receive a ticket with a map and a list of all the properties open for the tour when you check in at The Tucker House, 418 N. Person Street. The tour runs from 1:00 to 7:00 PM on Saturday, December 14th and Sunday, December 15th, 2024.
Tickets are limited and sell out fast, so don’t wait to get yours. The tour is a nonprofit fundraising event for the SPHO, so your purchase will help support their mission of protecting and promoting this historic treasure.
